Practice report: "Plax looks great"

PLAXICO BURRESS, New York Jets Jets wide receiver

Jets wide receiver Plaxico Burress had this to say about tweaking his back during training camp: "It’s not like walking into 7-Eleven and buying a Slurpee. I think I’ll be all right."

Have no fear, Jets fans. Plaxico Burress’ back issue isn’t …well, an issue.

The wide receiver was a full participant in practice Thursday, according to Rex Ryan.

“He looked great,” the coach said. “He made an unbelievable catch today, had a couple of them. So he wasn’t held back or anything today.”

However, backup QB Mark Brunell (calf), G Trevor Canfield (knee) and TE Jeff Cumberland (hamstring) did not practice and will be held out of Saturday’s game. Ryan, though, expressed little concern about Brunell’s limited preseason snaps due to injury.

“I probably would have been much more concerned had he not been with us last year,” he said of the veteran quarterback, who missed the preseason opener because of a dislocated pinky on his throwing hand. “But the fact that this offense is not new to him now I feel OK about that.”
