Ray Rice's Md. home burglarized; NFL star and New Rochelle native loses guns, cash

NEWS12 WESTCHESTER: Ray Rice, the Baltimore Ravens' star and the New Rochelle native, was not home during when his Maryland home was burglarized. (May 21, 2013)

The Maryland home of Baltimore Ravens running back and New Rochelle native Ray Rice was burglarized over the weekend, and $2,000 and two guns were stolen, police said.

Baltimore County police spokeswoman Cpl. Cathleen Batton said Monday that the burglary happened between 8:30 p.m. Friday and 12:50 a.m. Saturday at the home in Reisterstown, Md., about 20 miles northwest of Baltimore.

Rice was out of town for the weekend, but a friend was staying at the home and reported the burglary to police, police said.

The burglar apparently forced his way in through a rear window and ransacked portions of the home, police said. Surveillance video shows the burglar, police said.

Rice, 26, led New Rochelle High School's football team to a state title in 2003 before starring at Rutgers University in Piscataway, N.J. He joined the Ravens in 2008 and started on the Ravens' Super Bowl-winning team this past season.
