The Jets announced Wednesday that they officially have signed 5-11, 219-pound running back Kahlil Bell.
Bell, a UCLA product, spent four seasons with Chicago before he was waived Oct. 15. In 22 career games, he has rushed 131 times for 589 yards (4.5 avg.) and has caught 21 passes for 148 yards and a touchdown. In two games this season, he has registered 12 carries for 32 yards and one reception for 11 yards.
He will wear No. 21
Injuries have, obviously, left the Jets thin at running back. Second-year back Bilal Powell -- who missed two games because of a separated shoulder -- suffered a concussion in Sunday's loss to Seattle. He did not practice Wednesday.
In other injury news: WR Stephen Hill was sent home because of an illness. ...RB Joe McKnight (high ankle sprain) was limited in practice, along with LB Bart Scott (toe), NT Sione Po'uha (low back/ankle).
NT Kenrick Ellis (knee), however, is expected to practice fully, as are RG Brandon Moore (hip), C Nick Mangold (ankle), QB Mark Sanchez (low back), S Eric Smith (knee), LB Matt Slauson (knee), LB Calvin Pace (shoulder), DL Mike DeVito (finger), WR Clyde Gates (shoulder), NT Damon Harrison (thumb), TE Jeff Cumberland (wrist), QB Tim Tebow (ribs), WR Jeremy Kerley (heel) and S LaRon Landry (heel).
