The Jets don't seem to be all that interested in bringing back Braylon Edwards. But they may have their eye on another tall free agent wide receiver who's a bit familiar with the New York football scene.
According to the Pittsburgh Post Gazette, the Giants now aren't expected to sign Burress and the bidding for his services will come down to the Jets and Steelers. Burress, who met with the Giants yesterday and toured the Timex Performance Center for the first time, had breakfast with Steelers coach Mike Tomlin this morning and also sat down with team president Art Rooney and GM Kevin Colbert.
Colbert is expected to meet with Tomlin sometime today to asses his feelings about the situation, then proceed from there.
"Drew [Rosenhaus], his agent, is interested, and we're certainly interested," Colbert told reporters at Steelers training camp in Latrobe, Pa. "So where it goes, we will find out."
Apparently, so too will the Jets.
Burress left without speaking to reporters.
