The Jets front office has yet to weigh in, one way or the other, on Rex Ryan's fate. But according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, "there are now multiple signs pointing to" the Jets head coach returning to the team next season.
There still are "some issues to work through", however, according to Schefter.
Ryan's contract runs through the end of the 2014 season, but he likely is seeking a contract extension from the team.
The Jets defied the expectations of many, jumping out to a 5-4 record before the Week 10 bye. The team struggled down the stretch however, winning just two of their past six games.
But the Jets (7-8) have a chance to end the season at .500 with a win over the Dolphins (8-7), who need to win in order to make the playoffs. Despite making back-to-back appearances in the AFC Championship Game, the Jets have had three non-winning seasons and no playoff berths since then.
