Darrelle Revis wants to see it happen. He'd love nothing more than to be paired with big-named free agent Nnamdi Asomugha, forming a fierce tandem at cornerback.
"Rex [Ryan] and Mike Tannenbaum are going to do the best thing to build this into a championship-caliber team," Revis said this afternoon on a conference call. "Bringing Nnamdi on board, I mean that would be great. He’s the best cornerback in the league and me and him as a tandem would be unbelievable.
After a chuckle, Revis added: "It would be awesome. So I would love to have him as a teammate."
So, too, would the rest of his teammates if you ask Revis.
"Everybody would love to see him as a member of their team," Revis said. "I would want to see it. Hopefully, it happens. But we also understand this is a business and if he comes here, he does. If he don’t, he’s still my same friend that we’ve always been."
Revis admitted the two have previously chatted about teaming up.
"We've always spoke as friends, but we even spoke about it at the Pro Bowl -- about playing on the same team," Revis said. "And now we’re here, even though there’s nothing to talk about furthermore with trying to recruit him because I don’t try to do that. I try to keep our friendship.
"Nnamdi, he knows where he wants to play and what’s the best fit for him and what he wants to do with his career."
