The latest installment of Darrelle Revis' recovery will air tonight at 7 p.m. on NFL Network Tonight. But the Jets star cornerback talks about more than just his ACL rehab.
During his interview with Andrea Kremer, Revis was asked what he thought when he heard the reports of a possible trade. And here's what he had to say:
“I was speechless; I tweeted it out I was speechless," he said. "I was speechless because I didn’t get a phone call. I know it’s a business – just call me; don’t have it lingering out there. I need answers and I’m not getting any. Just the fact that that was put out there instead of contacting your best player on the team. If that’s how you want to do business, then that’s fine.”
Jets new GM John Idzik neither confirmed or denied the team's interest in trading Revis, who staged a 36-day holdout in 2010 before signing a front-loaded four-year, $46-million deal. But his noncommittal response regarding Revis created quite a stir -- which, surprisingly caught Idzik off guard.
The GM said he spoke to Revis over the phone after his introductory press conference "just to make sure he knew exactly what was going on from our end," Idzik said.
"And it was good to talk to him. I thought it was well received."
The NFL Network did not provide the transcript for the entire interview, so it's unclear what Revis' reaction was to Idzik's phone call and what his feelings are now. Here's a snippet of the interview.
