CORTLAND – In the presence of his tight-knit circle, Darrelle Revis weighed his options carefully.

For months he entertained staying behind, as his teammates made their training camp trek upstate for training camp.

The Jets cornerback factored in his current contract – a short-term fix in the wake of his 36-day training camp holdout in 2010 -- the roster bonus he stood to lose if he didn’t report to Cortland, and the three additional years that would have been tacked on to his current four-year deal if he was a no-show.

And still, Revis was “close” to sitting out again. But in the end, he chose Cortland.

“I just wanted to be here,” said the Jets’ star cornerback, who came to his decision a couple of days ago. “I wanted to be around the team, and just play ball. That’s my focal point: To just come in here and get prepared for the season.”

“…I haven’t been to a lot of training camps,” he joked.

Revis' arrival in Cortland was a foregone conclusion, but that his teammates and coaching staff still breathed a collective sigh of relief when he showed up at their Florham Park facility Thursday morning for his physical.

“I was glad to see Revis," nose tackle Sione Pouha said, chuckling. "There’s always a business side to it …but to see Revis in there is great."
