Rex dons "Rob" costume, says bounty's on his twin

Rex Ryan’s Wednesday presser began as they typically do, listing the injury news of the day. But then, out of nowhere, things took an unexpected turn.

“Can you guys sit tight real quick? One sec,” he said, before leaving the room.

A minute went by before the Jets coach returned, wearing a black Cleveland Browns cap over a curly, blond wig, with a pillow rolled up under his brown T-shirt to give off the impression of a gut.

“There is a bounty this week,” Ryan said. “And I know I’m gonna hear from the league and all that kind of stuff. But I’m placing a bounty on my brother’s head. I do have some concerns that some of our players may bounce off him, but that notwithstanding, there is a bounty.”

Then he proceeded to answer questions as if he were his twin brother, Rob.

Q: What do u think of Rex?
A: “I think Rex is a great coach, he’s a great person. There’s no question asbout that. And he’s very handsome.”

Q: What happened to the gray hair?
A: “Well, I’m trying to get a head coaching job, so I’m dyeing it a little bit. Looking young.”

Q: “Where’s the goatee?”
A: “I’ve trimmed it a little bit cause I know I’m gonna get some national attention coming off two big victories.”

Q: What do you think about Mark Sanchez?”
A: “I think he’s great. I think he’s well coached. My brother’s done a great job with Mark Sanchez.”

Then Ryan abruptly announced he was changing back into his “Jet outfit” – but not before taking one last shot at his brother.

“Truly, he is looking bad,” the coach said with a smile. “He should’ve had the Lap-Band. He did not have the Lap-Band surgery when I did. That’s clearly a mistake. I’ve always been the big twin, now I’m just the smart, good looking twin.”

CB Marquice Cole (hamstring) and G Matt Slauson (knee) did not practice today. But Ryan said he expects Slauson to be back on the field tomorrow. RB LaDainian Tomlinson and FB Tony Richardson were given the day off as well, but that was non-injury related. LB Josh Mauga (hamstring) was limited in practice.
