Moments ago, the Jets released a statement saying owner Woody Johnson and coach Rex Ryan will address the media in a "season-ending press conference" at 11 a.m. on Jan. 8.
The Jets organization has remained silent since Sunday's 28-9 loss in Buffalo -- and now are in violation of the NFL's media policy.
(Per league spokesman Greg Aiello)
SEASON-ENDING NEWS CONFERENCE/OPEN LOCKER ROOM – Every team is required to 1) open its locker room for player interviews the day after the season ends and 2) hold a news conference during the week following the end of its season with its head coach, and/or owner, and/or club president, and/or general manager. The purpose is to respond to fan interest in the conclusion of the team’s season.
The NFL is looking into the situation.
The entire Jets coaching staff will be off until Monday, but Johnson's search for a new GM continues.
