Even after a few days, Kerry Rhodes is still able to laugh at himself.
And that’s a good thing, because we sure did.
One reporter couldn’t wait to pounce on the Jets safety for failing to make it to the end zone on a sack and fumble recovery during the latter stages of Sunday’s 37-0 win over the Bengals.
“I thought I was a Cadillac rolling down the street and then caught a flat tire,” Rhodes joked during his afternoon press conference today. “It happens. But I’m actually fast, so don’t get it twisted. I just couldn’t get rolling. It was cold. That’s my excuse.”
Pro Bowl Snub?
Despite having the No. 1 in the league the Jets received just one Pro Bowl selection: cornerback Darrelle Revis.
And that didn’t sit too well with Rhodes.
“It gives us something to prove. We’re the No. 1 defense and we have one guy,” he said. “There’s definitely other deserving guys, I think, but they didn’t get in. So we just gotta go out and prove it. Prove each week that we’re capable of having those guys there and we should have those guys there. We definitely have a chip on our shoulders.”
Harris On the Way?
When asked how the potential absence of ILB David Harris would affect the team's defense in Sunday's rematch against Cincinnati, Rhodes said: “It will definitely change some things around. He’s a big piece of our defense and he’s one of those guys that should’ve been in the Pro Bowl. He’s a guy that played well this year, he had a great year, so it’s going to be tough.”
But, said Rhodes: “We expect him to be there.”
