CORTLAND – They were in the groove from the very start, slipping passes in between defenders with ease for a good portion of practice.

Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow looked especially sharp Monday, throwing 14 straight completions during the Jets’ 7-on-7 period. Sanchez went 6-for-6 during his first series, targeting tight end Dustin Keller on back-to-back passes to begin the drill and ending the series by on a 20+-yard, third-down completion to Dedrick Epps.

Epps leapt in the air and came down with the ball, despite being taken down by rookie linebacker Demario Davis. The completion elicited a scream and several fist pumps from Sanchez and the rest of the offense.

According to Tebow, who went 3-for-3 during the drill, it was the best 7-on-7 period the Jets offense has had during training camp.

The completion streak ended, however, when Patrick Turner dropped a Sanchez pass with cornerback Darrelle Revis on him.

During team drills, Sanchez was picked off by Revis. The quarterback also was sacked twice (once by cornerback Kyle Wilson). Tebow also was sacked twice.

WR Santonio Holmes (rib), WR Jeremy Kerley (hamstring), NT Sione Po’uha (forehead/back), S Eric Smith (MCL sprain) and T Dennis Landolt (knee) will not play against the Giants Saturday at MetLife Stadium. It's unclear whether WR Chaz Schilens (ankle) will be able to play.

Holmes participated in individual wide receiver drills at the start of practice, but that was it. Po’uha was absent during the early portion of practice, but was spotted later on watching drills. RT Wayne Huntersplit reps again in practice with Austin Howard.
