HOUSTON - The Jets will be without two former first-round picks against the Texans on Sunday.
Sheldon Richardson is inactive due to a hamstring injury. Cornerback Dee Milliner — who was drafted ninth overall and three spots ahead of Richardson in 2013 — will not play because of an illness.
Richardson did not practice all week and was listed as questionable for the game. On Friday, head coach Todd Bowles said the third-year defensive tackle would be a game-time decision, but Richardson’s inability to get on the practice field was an indication of how banged up he is.
It’s the first career game Richardson will miss because of injury. He was suspended for the Jets’ first four games this season for violating the NFL’s drug policy.
Milliner was ill all week and had to be sent home at one point with a high fever.
Other Jets’ inactive include: Bryce Petty, Kenbrell Thompkins, Dion Bailey, Dakota Dozier and Ben Ijalana.
Former Jets backup offensive lineman Oday Abousi also is inactive.
