The Jets brass has insisted Mark Sanchez’s shoulder injury is a day-to-day setback. But, to no surprise, reports indicate the quarterback’s injury is far more severe than the organization has let on.

About an hour before the game, ESPN’s Chris Mortensen tweeted Sanchez will get a second opinion this week from noted orthopedic surgeon, Dr. James Andrews, because doctors believe Sanchez has a partially-torn labrum in his throwing shoulder. A source has said this report is inaccurate.

A half hour later, FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer reported on air that the fifth-year quarterback had suffered a dislocated right shoulder in Week 3 of the preseason.

If Sanchez does in fact have a partially-torn labrum, he could simply rehab through the injury (as Mortensen noted) – but that means his injury won’t be day to day, as the Jets have been saying.
