Sanchez's surgery OK

Mark Sanchez had successful left knee surgery Wednesday. The Jets quarterback underwent an elective procedure to strengthen and stabilize the ligaments around his patella tendon at Morristown (N.J.) Memorial Hospital. Team orthopedists Dr. Kenneth Montgomery and Dr. Elliott Hershman performed the surgery, which should allow Sanchez to play without a brace.NFL

Ravens take Stallworth

The Baltimore Ravens said they have signed wide receiver Donte' Stallworth to a one-year contract. Stallworth was recently released by the Cleveland Browns. The deal reportedly is worth $900,000.NBANets lose again

GOLFMcGowan ousts Strickler

Ross McGowan become only the second player in the 12-year history of Match Play Championship to knock out the No. 1 seed in the opening round. McGowan rolled in a 30-foot par putt on the 19th hole at Marana, Ariz., to beat Steve Stricker.
