Just in case the Jets weren’t quite sure how to get a hold of free-agent Terrell Owens, the former NFL star let them know how to find him, in the most public of forums.
During the fourth quarter of Monday night’s loss to the Texans, Owens, 38, tweeted: “Hey JETS!!! I’m available! I’m ready, willing & able! Call my agent @jordanwoy & let's make it happen.”
To some Jets fans, the acquisition of T.O. may seem like an instant upgrade of the newly-signed Jason Hill, who dropped what likely will be the prettiest ball thrown by Tim Tebow this season.
And with Santonio Holmes done for the season, Clyde Gates nursing a separate shoulder, the wide receiver corps is thin to say the least.
But let us all remember that there’s a reason Owens didn’t make the final cut in Seattle. And, as ESPN’s NFL Business analyst Andrew Brandt tweeted earlier this morning, the free agent wideout would command a $925,000 minimum salary.
The Jets already are paying for several questionable contracts. Why add another?
