Greetings on a crystal clear morning from New Meadowlands Stadium.
We're less than an hour away from kickoff here between the Jets (7-2) and the struggling Texans (4-5), a game the Jets absolutely need to take control of early so they can rip Houston's hearts out immediately. Sure, the Texans are banged up, but they have enough firepower on offense with QB Matt Schaub, WR Andre Johnson and RB Arian Foster to get it done.
Last thing the Jets should want to do is let these guys hang around.
The Texans feature the league's 32nd-ranked pass defense, so the Jets would be wise to test their shaky secondary early and often. We'll see if QB Mark Sanchez gets the green light to whip the ball around a little bit more and if he can toss for 300 yards for the second time in three weeks today.
We'll also see if the fans heed Rex's plea to be in their seats early and just how loud they are. He told me if they are as loud and crunk as he wants, there's no way anyone can beat them here at home.
Now, on to the Jets' inactives: QB Kellen Clemens, CB Dwight Lowery, CB Marquice Cole, LB Josh Mauga, OL Vladimir Ducasse, WR Jerricho Cotchery, TE Jeff Cumberland and DL Marcus Dixon.
If you're wondering who the Jets' game captains are today, they are: CB Drew Coleman, K Nick Folk, RB Joe McKnight, RB LaDainian Tomlinson, OL Rob Turner and assistant ST coach Ben Kotwica.
As for the Texans, QB Matt Leinart, WR Dorin Dickerson, SS Tori Williams, LB Zac Diles, G Kasey Studdard, DT Malcolm Sheppard, DE Jesse Nading and TE Owen Daniels are inactive.
Enjoy the game everyone. We'll have Marcus Henry live blogging the action, so stop on by and chat it up.
