Punter Steve Weatherford is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Bengals due to a tweaked right hamstring, according to coach Rex Ryan.
Though Weatherford participated fully in practice today, Ryan said he’ll work “a few guys out” tomorrow to make sure the team is prepared in case Weatherford can’t go.
If the punter can’t go against Cincy, that leaves K Jay Feely as the likely back-up choice. But Ryan did joke that he would try out Brad Smith – his can-do-it-all-WR.
“Maybe we’ll see,” Ryan said of giving Smith a shot. “Brad probably could. We’ll ask him.”
As expected CB Donald Strickland (quad) -- who did not participate in practice today -- is ruled out for Sunday’s game.
DE Shaun Ellis (knee), who was sent home due to illness, is listed as questionable. RB Shonn Greene (shoulder), QB Sanchez (knee) & OL Robert Turner (knee) are all probable -- which means they'll play, said Rex.
Perhaps there are a few Jets who will miss the old Giants Stadium.
But not OL Damien Woody.
“I don’t really have much history. This is only my second year here,” he said. “…And to be honest with you, I don’t think the Jets have much history at Giants Stadium – being that it’s Giants Stadium. It’s named after somebody else.”
When asked if the name annoys him, Woody replied:
“A little bit, yeah. Playing in a place where it’s named after another team is kind of annoying.”
“But,” Woody added, “we’re not even concerned with that right now. Right now our concern is the Cincy Bengals and the opportunity to be one of 12 teams to participate in the playoffs. That’s our main goal.”
