A day after Wes Welker may or may not have given Rex Ryan a subliminal beatdown, making 10 references to feet or toes in a 10-minute press conference, the Patriots were making sure not to put their foot in their mouth.

Welker, who appeared in the Patriots’ locker room, was asked to comment but declined. “No, I spoke yesterday,” he said.

And Bill Belichick was asked if he gave extra points for creativity to Welker for his comments on Thursday (by the way, extra points for creativity for the way the question was put!). Belichick paused and almost smiled. For a moment it was almost as if he was about to address the situation.

No such luck.

“Right now my comments are just about the Jets,” he said. “You’ll have to ask (Welker) about that.”
