If history is any indication, the Jets – known best for alternating wins and losses this season – should bounce back from their pitiful performance against Buffalo. But what about their rookie quarterback?
Geno Smith’s coaches and teammates continue to have faith in his ability to regroup from bad performances. But he hasn’t had a stellar outing since Week 5 in Atlanta – coincidentally, the last time the Jets won on the road.
Smith has the same number of touchdowns (4) on the road as he does at home, but he has more interceptions (10) when playing in enemy territory than he does at MetLife Stadium (6).
His road QB rating (58.5) is significantly lower than his rating at home (71.1).
But despite the fact that Smith has accounted for 20 of the team’s 21 turnovers, “Geno’s the man,” said offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg. “He’s put together some really good games, so we’re looking for him to put together back-to-back-to-back type games like that. That’s his next step.”
