Rex Ryan typically opens up his daily press conferences during the week by rattling off the injury report. Today, he pulled a sheet of paper out of his pocket as he always does and began reciting a few names off the list.

"Obviously, Manning, Clark, Addai, Reggie Wayne, Freeney, Mathis, Brackett, those guys will not play," Ryan cracked. "Tom Moore, Howard Mudd and JT should get a more extended break, it says here."

That's when Ryan offered up the kicker.

"Oh, hold up," he said. "That was my wish list for Santa Claus."

As usual, most of us break into laughter as Ryan then proceeds to go over the actual injury list, which included a few names that didn't practice today because Ryan decided to hold them out so they can be "fresh." WR Braylon Edwards, FB Tony Richardson and RB Thomas Jones all sat out today and Ryan wants them to be "ready to roll" for this Sunday's tilt against the undefeated Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium.

One name of note that might fly under the radar is reserve OL Robert Turner. He's been out with a knee injury the past three games but he returned to practice today. Turner is one of the extra blockers the Jets sometimes use on running plays and they even had DT Sione Pouha out there for a play against the Falcons Sunday because Turner couldn't go.

Ok, that's been taken care of, so now back to the Colts and Ryan's wish list. He was asked if he really didn't want to see those guys like Manning, Freeney and Wayne not play. Ryan is about as confident as can be, as we know, with his defense, so you would think that he wants the Colts to play their starters for the entire game.

But it sounds like he truly hopes those guys are wearing baseball caps.

"That's my list," said Ryan, who didn't have much success against the Colts in his days in Baltimore. "That is my wish list. I'd just as soon play those guys in the playoffs, then we'll find out. But I want to get in. I want you at your best. The competitor in you absolutely wants to see that. But I'd just as soon not see it. I just want to win. It's going to be a challenge whoever's out there. But obviously these are some premier players in this game."

Line of the day goes to Kerry Rhodes. The safety has taken his fair share of criticism for his play -- deservedly so -- and WFAN/SNY's Chris Carlin was absolutely hammering Rhodes on the airwaves this morning, saying Rhodes didn't care about Sunday's loss because he was out on the town in Manhattan celebrating at a friend's event.

Rhodes' response: "Where was he at? Eating somewhere?"

Ryan confirmed a report stating the Jets brought in former Bengals RB Chris Perry for a tryout. Apparently, he wasn't the only though.

"We brought in Chris Perry and some other guys," Ryan said. "I don't really know their names. We did work them out. We're always going to do our 'due dilligence.' We're going to bring some guys in, we're looking for the possible future. Would we sign a guy like Chris Perry or whatever? I know he did have an impressive workout."
