Reports are swirling that LaDainian Tomlinson is leaning toward signing with the Jets, although there is no official word of a deal being done.

"There is nothing to report," a Jets official said a few minutes ago.

Tomlinson is set to decide between the Jets and the Vikings after visiting both teams late in the week. He met with the Vikings on Thursday and then the Jets on Friday. He stayed later than expected Friday before returning to San Diego yesterday.

If Tomlinson does wind up choosing the Jets, he'd replace Thomas Jones, who was released after failing to come to an agreement on a restructured contract. Jones signed a two-year, $5 million deal with the Chiefs.

Tomlinson's presence could affect Leon Washington's status, although the Jets have indicated they plan to keep the restricted free agent, who is recovering from a fractured fibula.
