We’re fascinated to see if Marc Trestman can get the Bears’ offense going with Jay Cutler.
The former Montreal Alouettes head coach takes over for Lovie Smith, who got the gate after a 10-6 season.
Still can’t forget Trestman’s ill-fated run with the 49ers in 1995-96. After the ’96 season, then owner Ed DeBartolo said this when a reporter asked about Trestman’s status for the following season: “He’s gone.”
Trestman will call his own plays, although he’ll get input from newly hired offensive coordinator Aaron Kromer, the former Saints’ offensive coordinator and interim head coach in 2012.
“I will be calling the plays to [Cutler] in the headsets each and every day,” Trestman said. “And I would say that I am calling the plays with the help and confidence and cooperation of Aaron and our staff.”
Trestman won two Grey Cups in five seasons as the Alouettes’ head coach.
