Two of the biggest names in the game found themselves in the unexpected position of being placed on the waiver wire yesterday. And now Randy Moss and Shawne Merriman have new homes.
Moss, who was released on Monday by the Vikings, was claimed by the Titans, while Merriman, the former Chargers linebacker who was placed on injured reserve two weeks ago and released yesterday, wound up with the winless Bills.
Obviously a better deal for Moss, who goes to a team with legitimate hopes of getting to the Super Bowl. Moss was initially delighted to be heading back to Minnesota after being traded last month by the Patriots. But his relationship quickly turned sour, and he lasted just four games.
He now goes to a team that has an immediate need at wide receiver because of a hamstring injury to Kenny Britt that will keep him out of action for at least a couple weeks. The Titans are on a bye week.
Merriman, the former first-round linebacker, is expected to report to the Bills, who are 0-7. He has five days to report to the team.
