The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported Tuesday that Titans head coach Mike Munchak, a former Penn State offensive lineman, would be the Nittany Lions' first choice to replace Joe Paterno, who was fired amid a sex scandal involving former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky.
But Munchak said he has no plans to leave the Titans.
"I have a great deal of respect for Penn State, and I hope they find a great coach there," Munchak said, per the Tennesseean. "But I am happy where I'm at. I love my alma mater, but I have no interest in being the head coach at Penn State. I never want to leave Tennessee."
Paterno was fired on Nov. 9.
Munchak achieved a Hall of Fame career with the Oiler and then Titans before taking over as the Titans head coach, succeeding Jeff Fisher. In hiss first season as the Titans' coach, the team is 8-7 and in contention for an AFC wild card berth. The Titans conclude the regular season on Sunday against the Texans.
