BRONCOS (2-4) AT CARDINALS (1-5)
TV: Ch. 5, NFL, 8:20 p.m.
Broncos by 2 O/U: 42
There are 256 regular-season NFL games. We pick every single one of them. If there was one game we could have our own bye for, though, this would be a top candidate.
There’s not much buzz surrounding this matchup, and for good reason. Denver is winless (0-2) on the road and Arizona (0-3) has yet to win at home. Denver has lost four in a row overall, and coach Vance Joseph could lose his job if the streak hits five.
Neither team can stop the run. The Broncos allow an NFL-high 161.1 yards on the ground per game after allowing back-to-back 200-plus yard rushers. The Cardinals yield the second most at 151.2. Arizona has one of the best backs in David Johnson but he’s had only 92 carries (for 297 yards and 5 TDs). Arizona should hand off to him 30-plus times and then let Josh Rosen pick his spots.
This should be a close game, but the slight edge goes to the home team on a short week. Arizona played well in its last two home games, a 16-14 loss to the Bears and a last-second 20-17 loss to the Seahawks. Denver has lost its two road games by 13 and 18. Since Joseph took over last season, the Broncos are 1-9 on the road. Play the Cards at home.
