The third preseason game is usually the most important for NFL teams, since the starters play well into the third quarter in their final major tuneup before the regular season.
But newly acquired Redskins quarterback Donovan McNabb won't have that luxury, because he's nursing an ankle problem that will keep him out of Friday night's game against the Jets.
It's a tough early blow for McNabb, who has not looked sharp so far this preseason and struggled mightily against the Ravens last weekend.
We caught up with McNabb last week in Washington, and he confided that things are moving a bit more slowly than he'd like.
McNabb's injury, which is not expected to keep him out of the regular season, means that backup Rex Grossman, the former Bears' quarterback, will get the bulk of the snaps against the Jets.
