Ochocinco's run ends with whimper

If this is Chad Ochocinco's last year in Cincinnati - and all indications are it will be the end for the flamboyant wide receiver - his run will end very quietly.

Ochocinco is still bothered by an ankle problem, and won't even make the trip to Baltimore for the regular season finale. Ochocinco missed the team's final home game last week because of the injury.

"The Ravens are the Ravens," Ochocinco told reporters, per the Cincinnati Inquirer. "They always have a great defense but we’ll be fine. Jerome (Simpson) will be fine."

Simpson will play in Ochocinco's pace. Last week in a win over the Chargers, Simpson had six catches for 124 yards and two touchdowns.

“He hasn’t come out of nowhere. He hasn’t had the opportunity to play and show what he can do,” said Ochocinco of Simpson. “He’s really good. He can jump out of the gym. Great hands, speed. The whole nine yards. He’s a better blocker than I am times … It’s night and day when it comes to blocking. That’s something that he adds to the X position that I’ve never been able to do.”

Ochocinco said he will undergo off-season ankle surgery. He wound up with 67 catches for 831 yards and four touchdowns. Since 2002, the year he became a starter, his receptions and yards total are the second lowest and his touchdowns are tied for his lowest.

Ochocinco has played 151 games and has 751 catches for 10,783 yards and 66 touchdowns.
