The Packers have made it official: Linebacker Nick Barnett, who underwent surgery on his right wrist, is out for the season. The team placed him on injured reserve, making him ineligible to return for the remainder of the year.
Barnett joins running back Ryan Grant (foot) on injured reserve. And the team might also be without tight end Jermichael Finley for the rest of the season. He underwent arthroscopic knee surgery this week, and his return is uncertain after doctors found more extensive damage than expected.
The Packers filled Barnett's roster spot by signing defensive end Mike Montgomery.
Green Bay may have escaped further injury problems with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who suffered a concussion last week against the Redskins but is expected to return on Sunday against Miami. Linebacker Clay Matthews is also hoping to play despite a hamstring strain.
