Former Giants receiver Plaxico Burress is due to end his prison sentence on illegal weapons possession in June, and there is every expectation he'll look to resume his NFL career. His next landing spot: Pittsburgh?

Steelers receiver Hines Ward, who played with Burress for five seasons in Pittsburgh, said he'd welcome the opportunity "with open arms," Ward told reporters today at Super Bowl Media Day.

"How great would that be? For Plax to come back with the Steelers and help us win another Super Bowl, that would be a great story."

But Ward wouldn't go directly to the Steelers to try and facilitate a return for Burress, a former first-round pick of the Steelers.

"I'm not going to do that, because I'm not that type of guy," he said. "Who am I to tell the owner or organization what to go do? If that presented itself and the Pittsburgh Steelers did bring Plaxico back, I'd give him a big hug, and we'd be right out there playing together."
