Ray Lewis is out for the season

The Ravens' worst fears about Ray Lewis came true today, as an MRI revealed a complete triceps tear that will require season-ending surgery. And given the fact that Lewis turns 38 next season, this could mean that his career is over.

Ravens coach John Harbaugh announced the news minutes ago, just a day after the Ravens held off Dallas to improve to 5-1.

Lewis wasn't the only starter the Ravens lost yesterday. Cornerback Lardarius Webb suffered a torn knee ligament and is also out for the season. The news couldn't have come at a worse time for a Ravens team whose defense has not been as effective as usual in recent weeks.

The Ravens are still without linebacker Terrell Suggs, who is recovering from an Achilles injury. He is eligible to come off the physically unable to perform list this week, but is not expected to return just yet.
