Jaguars star running back Maurice Jones-Drew has been charged with battery after allegedly punching a security guard at a restaurant in St. Augustine, Fla. on Saturday, according to the website TMZ.com.
According to a police report obtained by TMZ, Jones-Drew is accused of knockout out the guard during an altercation at the Conch House restaurant on Sunday.
Representatives for Jones-Drew did not return calls from TMZ.
According to the police report, witnesses say a friend of Jones-Drew was told by security to stop touching a young female. Per the website’s report, the friend allegedly slapped a security guard on his chest and a brawl ensued.
One of the security guards reportedly put Jones-Drew’s friend in a headlock to stop the fight, and Jones-Drew then punched the guard.
UPDATE: ESPN's Adam Schefter reports a spokesperson for Jones-Drew said the running back has not been charged. "Maurice was there and was not involved," Adisa Bakari said, per Schefter. "As soon as an altercation broke out, Maurice exited the premises."
