Two days after quarterback Jason Campbell suffered a broken collarbone that required surgery, the Raiders have traded for Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer, who hasn't been with the team since last season because of continued frustrations with the organization. The news was reported by Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com.
The deal is a huge risk for the Raiders, 4-2, who give up their first-round pick in 2012 and a conditional first-rounder in 2013. But head coach Hue Jackson, the former Bengals receivers coach who has high regard for Palmer, is sufficiently convinced that Palmer is the answer at quarterback.
The deal likely means that Campbell won't be with the team next season, although he indicated yesterday that he could return this season in about six weeks.
