The football world lost one of its all-time greats today.
Former AFL star fullback Cookie Gilbchrist, who played six years in the CFL before joining the Bills in 1962, died of cancer today, according to Thomas Gilchrist, his nephew. Cookie Gilchrist was 75.
Gilchrist played three seasons in Buffalo, another two in Denver, and one in Miami. He was the AFL's player of the year in 1962, when he rushed for 1,096 yards and 13 touchdowns.
