Garrett Hartley couldn't sleep early Sunday morning, so at 2:15 a.m., he called his father.
Here's what the second-year kicker out of Oklahoma told the Associated Press he told his pops: "I said, ‘Dad, I have a feeling I’m going to hit a game-winner from 42 yards on the right hash. It was funny, just the whole game how things played out and I just kept thinking about, ‘Is this really happening?’ It was like never-never land.”
As you know by now, Hartley ended up hitting the game-winning 40-yard FG in overtime to send the Saints to their first Super Bowl (see below). As you may not remember, the kick was from the right hash.
Quite a prediction...
(*Note: Hartley, who has missed just two field-goal attempts in his two-year career, is 2-for-2 this postseason. In the postseason, kickers are 20-for-33.)
