Besides his unwillingess to get with Brad Childress' program in Minnesota, one of the reasons Randy Moss was released after just a month was the Vikings' optimism about wideout Sidney Rice's eventual return from hip problems.
Rice underwent off-season surgery and had hoped to be back by now. But it appears he could finally return to the field for Sunday's big game against the Packers.
"I'm going to play," Rice told ESPN reporter Ed Werder today. "I don't think I can go the whole game, but I'm going to play as much as I can."
But it may not be Rice who makes the final decision. Childress said earlier in the day that he would make a decision on Rice's status after tomorrow's practice. If Childress doesn't play Rice against the Packers, the receiver is expected to go on season-ending injured reserve.
