Former Giants receiver Steve Smith, who signed a one-year deal with the Eagles after spurning the Giants' offer, might be in the lineup for Philly's season-opening game against the Rams.
If he makes it to the field, it would mean he's made it back weeks before the Giants expected him to play. Smith underwent microfracture knee surgery last year, and the Giants calculated that he wouldn't be ready to play until at least three weeks into the season.
But Eagles coach Andy Reid said today that Smith might be ready to go.
"There's a chance he does [play] yeah," Reid said. "But I can't tell you how many snaps or that. But there's a chance he does play."
