Successful returns from ACL surgery

There have been many cases of players across multiple sports who have returned from an ACL reconstruction and resumed their career seemingly uninterrupted. Here's a look at some of the more prominent cases who've already recovered or who seem to be on their way to a quick recovery.

After the event he underwent surgery and his career was further derailed by a sex scandal. But he returned to prominence, winning the Bridgestone Invitational in 2009 and Cadillac Championship in 2013. |

BARON DAVIS Tore his ACL as a freshman

BARON DAVIS
Tore his ACL as a freshman at UCLA, but still was taken No. 3 in the 1999 NBA draft. Davis averaged 16.1 points per game during 13 seasons in the league. He re-tore the ACL and MCL and partially tore the patellar tendon in his right knee during a 2012 playoff game and hasn’t played since. |

FRANK GORE Tore each of his ACLs in

Tore each of his ACLs in college but returned to run for 945 yards in 2004, his final year at the University of Miami. Has become a perennial NFL Pro Bowler with the 49ers. |

The Hall of Famer is believed to have torn the ACL in his right knee after getting his cleat stuck in an outfield drain while trying to track down a fly ball in 1951. He may have played the remaining 17 seasons of his career with the injury, during which time he hit 523 home runs. |
