On the cusp of Super Bowl week and the generous serving of hype, get a head start on restaurants to brace you for the big game, as well as the ongoing cold snap. San Francisco and Baltimore collide in New Orleans on Feb. 3. Start eating.
BIG DADDY'S in Massapequa kicks in with a taste of New Orleans. The andouille sausage-and-chicken gumbo, jambalaya, broiled oysters and crawfish any style are recommended. And you can slide over to Baltimore via blue crab-stuffed mushrooms and Lady Day crabcakes.
NOAH'S in Greenport offers a fine panko-crusted, pan-seared crabcake, paired with a celery root-and-apple version of sauce rémoulade. Also, sample the crab-stuffed deviled eggs. And, just because they're there: warm, Gruyère cheese puffs.
LOUIE'S in Port Washington scores with a local spin on cioppino, the seafood stew of San Francisco. Mussels, clams, shrimp, finfish in a tomato-shellfish broth. You'll find Maryland crabcakes and a crab cocktail here, too.
