Tebow a third stringer?

With all the attention focused on Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow's battle for playing time with incumbent starter Kyle Orton, it appears there's a chance that Tebow might actually be the team's third-string quarterback this season.

As Mike Klis of the Denver Post explains it, Brady Quinn has enjoyed an exceptional training camp so far, and out-played Tebow in the team's first preseason game against the Cowboys. If it keeps up, there's a chance that Quinn may overtake Tebow as the long-term backup for Orton, especially if Orton misses any time due to injury.

"I feel like I can compete with anyone, given a fair chance," Quinn said, per Klis. "I mean, heck, throwing to (starting receiver) Brandon Lloyd every play? Give me that chance."

Quinn, who was acquired in a trade last year with the Browns, has been alternating second-team reps in practice with Tebow. There's a strong likelihood the Broncos will put in a package of plays that Tebow can run, taking advantage of his abilities as a runner as well as a passer.

"I don't know why it is, or exactly how to explain it, but Brady is much better this year than he was last year," Broncos star cornerback Champ Bailey said. "He just seems much more confident."
