With the Eagles locked into the No. 3 seed, head coach Andy Reid has opted to rest ailing quarterback Michael Vick in the regular season finale against the Cowboys.
That means Kevin Kolb, who entered the season as the starter before being replaced by Vick, will be the No. 1 quarterback. Kolb suffered a quad contusion on the first play of the Eagles' 24-14 loss to the Vikings on Tuesday night. The loss cost the Eagles a chance at the No. 2 seed, which would have given them a bye week. Instead, the Eagles will open the playoffs in the first round next weekend.
Kolb was given the starting job by head coach Andy Reid after Donovan McNabb was traded to the Redskins in the off-season. He suffered a concussion in Week 1, which ultimately led to Vick getting playing time and passing Kolb on the depth chart.
Vick has set career highs in several categories, including yards (3,018), touchdown passes (21) and rushing touchdowns (nine).
