There is a new name to add to the cluster for second place.
Matt Bettencourt birdied three straight holes, on a tough stretch of holes I might add, to pull into a tie for second at one-under. Bettancourt drained long birdie putts on the par-4, 428-yard 8th, the par-4, 505 yard 9th, and the par-4, 495-yard 10th. None prettier or longer than the ninth where he sunk a downhil 40-foot birdie putt from the fringe.
Mickelson approaching the 14th hole. Can't wait to see how he handles it. I think Tom Watson feels the same way.
