Garden City's Travis tourney has Irish appeal

Defending champion Nick Gilliam, a former NCAA champ for the University of Florida and a one-time pro, will be in the field at the 102nd Walter J. Travis Invitational at Garden City Golf Club starting Friday.

The amateur tournament always has an international field. This year that includes Eoghan O'Connell, who played for Great Britain-Ireland in the Walker Cup and was unbeaten in four matches (halving with Phil Mickelson), and Eoin O'Connor of Ireland's Ballybunion Golf Club. Each man's first name is pronounced "Owen."
