For the first time ever the winner of the U.S. Open hails from Northern Ireland.
In the 110th U.S. Open, Graeme McDowell sunk a one-foot par putt for the win at Pebble Beach and will soon have his name engraved alongside the greats on the U.S. Open trophy. He becomes the first European to win the Open in 40 years.
McDowell shot three-over today, his highest score of the tournament, and even-par for the tournament for a one-stroke victory over Gregory Havret.
One of the first to embrace McDowell was his father, who will remember this Father's Day forever.
