First-round leader Mike Weir hung his tee shot at the par-3 17th out left into the rough and failed to get up and down when he left his par putt half a roll short on the lip. That dropped him to -2, but he still has sole possession of the lead because playing partner K.J. Choi also bogeyed to drop to -1.
Those two are headed to the par-5 18th. At the moment, Spain's Rafael Cabrera-bollo is the leader in the clubhouse at 1-under 70. Weir hooked his drive into the right rough, meaning he has to be conservative the rest of the way, but Choi drilled a perfect drive into the left side of the fairway, which sets up poerfectly for his second shot.
