Scott Stallings leads by five at Humana Challenge

Scott Stallings opened a five-stroke lead in the PGA Tour's Humana Challenge in La Quinta, Calif., Saturday after holing a 20-foot downhill putt on the par-5 eighth hole for his second eagle of the round.

Stallings shot 9-under-par 63 to reach 22-under 194 after three days in perfect conditions in the Coachella Valley. John Rollins, Stallings' partner, was tied for second with Stewart Cink, Roberto Castro, Charles Howell III and Charley Hoffman.

Flu-ridden Phil Mickelson scrambled to make the cut by two strokes in his season debut.

Rose extends lead

Englishman Justin Rose, the fifth-ranked player in the world, extended his lead at the European Tour's Abu Dhabi Championship in the United Arab Emirates by shooting 4-under 68 to take a two-shot lead over Jamie Donaldson and Thorbjorn Olesen after three rounds.

A day after top-ranked Rory McIlroy and second-ranked Tiger Woods missed the cut, Rose had a stretch of six birdies over nine holes and nearly chipped in on 18 for an eagle. Olesen and Donaldson both shot 69s. Thailand's Thongchai Jaidee (66) is three shots back.

Frosty leads Champions

With winds gusting to 28 mph, David Frost shot 7-under 65 for 14-under 130 two-day total and a two-stroke lead on John Cook in the Mitsubishi Championship in Kaupulehu-Kona, Hawaii, the first Champions Tour event of the season.-- AP
