Golf Channel reported on Golf Central last night that Tiger Woods traveled to Augusta to practice for the Masters.
This represents possibly his largest step back to normal so far. He has been practicing at Isleworth, working with Hank Haney. But this apparently is the first time he has worked at a venue, toward a specific goal of preparing for a tournament. Of course, everyone knows that he announced a week ago that the Masters will be where he will return.
That figures to be about the best step he can take: Get back to work, get in a routine, do what you do and get back into life. It is an important part of his comeback as a person, not just as a golfer.
It sure must be a shot in the arm, psychologically, to return to the site of his greatest triumphs, one that ensures privacy for his work. As he said in one of his interviews Sunday night, he knows the course.
