Vaughn Taylor is the first to admit that it is a surprise to see his own name tied at the top of the leader board on Day One of The Barclays. He is No. 38 on the FedEx Cup ponits list, which is not bad but not great. "The last couple of years I haven't played my greatest," he said. "I'm pleased with my position coming in, and we all know taht if you play well the next few weeks, you can have a chance to win the whole thing."
Taylor shot 6-under-par 65, tied with Tiger Woods in the morning session of the first round of the PGA Tour playoff opener. He said it was a matter of making a few putts.
He didn't do a double-take when he saw Woods' name on top of the leader board. "It's good to see him back up top. It's been a tough year for him and I think we've all seen what he's been going through," Taylor said. "So many distractions. I think only he could deal with it. I don't think anybody is surprised when he plays well. Just looks like if he tweaked his swing and made a couple putts he'd be right back in there."
