Many of the world’s top pro women golfers will be at the Glen Oaks Club this week participating in the Aramco Tournament Series event at the venerable Old Westbury track.

The Korda sisters, Nelly and Jessica, Lexi Thompson, Danielle Kang and Lizette Salas are among the 84 pros scheduled to play in a team/individual competition that puts three professionals together with an amateur, with the amateur’s score counting.

The Aramco Team Series, run by the Ladies European Tour and backed by Saudi Arabian oil giant Aramco and Golf Saudi, is a new event this year in women’s pro golf with four tournaments held in England, Spain and Long Island, with the final in Saudi Arabia.

The competition is considered a full event on the Ladies European Tour. There is a $1 million prize fund and world ranking points are at stake.

There will be 28 teams competing over 54 holes from Thursday through Saturday. The two best scores per hole count with the top team earning $150,000 of an $800,000 prize fund for their three professionals. The player with the lowest individual score earns the top prize of a $200,000 pool. There’s the possibility that an amateur player could determine the team winner.

Spectators are admitted free and must register online at https://aramcoteamseries.com/en-us/ to get tickets. Use the pull-down menu to find the ticket icon.

Promoters say there will be a performance and energy zone available to spectators with golf simulators, e-gaming, practice facilities and food and beverage outlets.

The Glen Oaks Club hosted the 2017 Northern Trust, the PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup playoff opener, with Dustin Johnson defeating Jordan Spieth in a playoff.
