Those cardiac kids – aka the Long Island scholastic baseball team – won two more games Friday to reach Saturday night’s gold-medal game. After two 10th-inning victories on Thursday, L.I. edged Western New York, 5-4, in a regulation seven-inning game.
In the nightcap, the Island rode the pitching of Sachem East’s Dylan Caruso to a 4-1 victory over New York City. Caruso pitched a complete-game two-hitter, striking out six.
Long Island is 4-0 and plays a meaningless game against Adirondack Saturday morning before the 7 o’clock championship game against an opponent yet to be determined.
